Domestic Violence in Islam

 We have been hearing about domestic violence in Islam for a long time. Most of people in the American society believe that violence is allowed in Islam. This can’t be true because there is no religion encourages on violence. Whereas most of Muslims believe that men and women are all human. And each gender has rights and duties. We all know that there are some Muslims who do not follow the Islamic rules; this kind of Muslims gives a bad impression about Muslims and Islam.

Jason Singh declared this in his article, in the bridge newspaper, explaining how some Muslim guy killed his wife. He must be ignorant or crazy. There is no wise guy can do this easily.  I could say that the Islamic society should be blamed because it should play a role to preach the intolerance of domestic violence in their communities.

The writer of the article showed Malika Rushdans’s, founder of the AL-Huda society and development, point of view which is “ Domestic violence is no more prevalent in our community than any other culture”.

Experts say that the blame could be put on drugs and alcohol abuse. They say that abusers do not know that they have any problems. Abuser might keep on doing some crazy stuff without knowing that this is wrong.  Some people also have some wrong ideas that’s Quran encourages Muslims to beat or abuse their wives.

Qur’an doesn’t encourage people on violence at all. The Quran says”   And thereupon, and then leave them alone in their beds and beat them you heed the do not seek to harm them a way”, that means that Islam doesn’t put beating wives as a first solution to behave women, not even a second. Beating women is not allowed in Islam at all but under a certain condition. That doesn’t happen with normal people. I can tell as a middle eastern; I have lived in the Middle East and the Islamic society, and I know what happens and how life goes on. Also in the American Islamic society; beating women isn’t allowed at all. Even the law doesn’t let Muslims beat their wives.

Not all crimes committed by people who are classified as Muslims are related to Islam. Most of those people are just Muslims because they are identified as Muslims. Jews and Christians also commit such crimes. In Egypt for example, there is a 10 percent Christians and some of them also beat their wives. In Morocco also; there are some Jews who beat their wives. It’s not about religion at all.
